Grace

There are times when you just dig yourself too deep
And the water comes rushing in at you.
You have to swim to keep from drowning,
But it is hard and all you really want is for everything to
Stop
So you can just sleep.
But to do that is to drown,
So you keep swimming,
Trying to stay above the water that you have brought in upon yourself.
You are about to give up.
You have decided that maybe drowning is the only way.
No one can be perfect all the time.
So you stop
And leave yourself to be swallowed up.
But then a Hand reaches down and lifts your head from the water.
"Keep swimming."
You will not drown,
Not completely.
There is a price to pay for having dug so deep,
But it will not be complete death.
"Keep swimming. I will hold your head."
So you start to swim again
And it is still hard,
But there is a hope in it.
And you know that you cannot do this on your own.
You never could and you never have.
It has never been you.
It has always been Him.

"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."
"Apart from me you can do nothing."
